Privacy Policy — Blanx Chrome Extension

Effective Date: June 11, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how the BlanxChrome extension handles information. Blanx is a study tool that lets you hide ("blank out") selected words on web pages and in PDFs so you can quiz yourself by recalling them.

2. Data Collection

Blanx does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

The extension has no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, and no remote servers of its own.

3. How Your Content Is Handled

  • PDFs you open with Blanx are read locally in your browser.
  • Blanx is off by default. When you turn it on from the toolbar popup, it stays on across the pages you browse until you turn it off. While on, Blanx reads and modifies the pages you visit only to replace the words you highlight with blank fields. This happens entirely in your browser.
  • The words you choose to blank out and the answers you reveal are kept only in your browser's memory for the duration of your session.
  • Nothing is uploaded, synced, or shared with us or any third party.

4. Permissions and Why They Are Needed

Blanx requests the minimum permissions required to function:

  • declarativeNetRequest — used to detect when you open a PDF and redirect it to the Blanx viewer so the blanking tools can run.
  • scripting — used to add the blanking tools to the pages you browse while Blanx is turned on. Blanx is off by default and runs nothing until you turn it on.
  • storage — saves your on/off choice on your device so Blanx remembers it. This setting stays on your device and is never transmitted.
  • Host access (<all_urls>) — required so the PDF redirect works on any website, and so Blanx can add its blanking tools to the pages you visit while it is turned on. Blanx reads page content only while you have it turned on, and never sends it anywhere.

5. Third-Party Services

Blanx does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or trackers.

6. Children's Privacy

Because Blanx collects no data, it does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
